Aluminum bronze is the highest strength standard copper based alloy. Concast produces C95400, C95500 and C95900 in standard sizes of rounds, tubes and rectangles. Aluminum in conjunction with iron and nickel in C95500 acts as a strengthener in these alloys. All of the aluminum bronzes can be heat treated, further increasing tensile strengths.
Benefits of Aluminum Bronze
Higher strength
Tarnish resistant
Good anti-frictional characteristics
Low rates of scaling and corrosion in atmospheric conditions
Resistant to corrosion in sea water
Low oxidation rates at high temperatures
Low reactivity with sulfurous compounds and other exhaust products of combustion
Copper component of alloy prevents colonization by marine organisms including algae, lichens barnacles and mussels
Applications using Aluminum Bronze
Bearing brushes and landing gear components on aircrafts
Engine components (especially for sea-going ships)
